Scarlet Crush began as a small project for friends Dax Maddocks and Jeff Smetana in the late 90’s in Orange County, CA. It soon evolved into much more, as the band grew to include Brett Scott on bass, Jeff Sterzer on lead guitar, and Brentt Arcement on drums. Ever since, the band has worked and lived under one core musical value: Song-craft is King. “ I love the line in “That Thing You Do” where Tom Hanks’ character says,” The next big thing is a great song”, Smetana says. “ Songs are really all you have at the end of the day”.

“It just goes to show you that passion and hard work can carry you a long way. We may not be doing this for a living-yet- but we’ve done exactly what we wanted, when we wanted, the way we wanted to. Too many people crave fame, like a drug, and they’ll do anything to get it. That’s how you lose your freedom, giving total control to someone else. If we can keep doing the music we love, and find someone who gets it and wants to support it, great. If not, that’s fine too. We’re a good band, and we’ll keep doing this because we love it”, says Dax Maddocks
