Krister Axel
Pop

Krister Axel is a roots rock musician living in Los Angeles. He plays a Wurlitzer electric piano and a Martin 000-1. His newest release was recorded live to 2 inch tape at New Monkey Studio, the studio that until a few years ago belonged to Elliot Smith.
Born in Paris he began writing poetry at the age of 6. He moved to New York City and started his first band as a vocalist and songwriter later in life. By the end of 1999, Krister began to put his electric piano and his accordion to good use in Los Angeles with local bands like AM, Jay Nash, and 50 Cent Haircut, along with a steady gig as keyboardist and contributing songwriter for international artist Dawn Robinson. Krister's style of roots rock is often compared to Ben Harper, with the greasy sound of vintage keys and a raw baritone voice. Shows this past season included the North by Northeast Music Festival in Toronto, a triumphant return to the legendary Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach and a show in London at the Sheperd's Bush Majestic Theatre.
